The Audio-Technica AT-VM95SP is a dual moving magnet phono cartridge designed specifically for playing vintage 78 RPM shellac records. The cartridge features a 3.0 mil bonded conical stylus mounted on an aluminium cantilever. This larger stylus size is designed to sit correctly within the wider grooves of 78 RPM records, helping achieve cleaner playback and reducing unnecessary wear when used with shellac discs.

Although designed primarily for mono recordings, the AT-VM95SP is technically a stereo cartridge. This allows users to select the cleaner channel when digitising older records, which can help minimise noise and groove damage during archival transfers.

The VM95 series cartridge body includes threaded inserts for easy installation and supports interchangeable stylus upgrades. Owners can swap to other VM95 series styli depending on their playback needs.
