Product Details

A pair of early 19th century engravings depicting bat and bear skulls, both published by G.B. Whittaker, London in 1824. The bat engraving is signed 'Js Basire' for James Basire and dated September 1824. The bear engraving is unattributed and dated December 1824.

Both works are housed in later black and gilt glazed frames, the bear engraving being a slightly larger frame than the bat. Both frames show signs of light wear to the extremities and bear labels unassociated with the engravings verso.

There is some light spotting to both engravings but generally they remain in a good clean condition.

A great decorative pair.
