Product Details
A large 19th century oil on canvas depicting a seated gentleman in a suit and red tie.
The sitter has an intimidating and knowing side stare. The work shows evidence of heat damage to the paint which has given the work a textural, and slightly haunting, appearance. There is craquelure throughout but the paint remains stable. The work is signed 'Charles Mason' to the lower left; probably the artist's signature but could possibly reference the sitter.
The work is housed in a gilt wood frame which is shows some signs of wear commensurate with age.
A great decorative piece.
