Product Details

Spectacular box made of silver and tortoiseshell originally used as a small cigar box. A silver frame with cabriole feet contains panels of tortoiseshell with the interior of the base section lined in cedar.

Maker's mark for Henry Matthews, a prominent Birmingham based silversmith active from 1894 to 1930, operating from Vittoria Street in the famous Jewellery Quarter. Known for high-quality, detailed silver items and accessories. Hallmarked Birmingham 1925.

Dimensions: 12 cm/4¾ inches (width) x 9 cm/3½ inches (depth) x 6.25 cm/2½ inches (height).
