Product Details
A late 19th century double drop-end Chesterfield leather sofa by Robertson & Coleman Ltd, Norwich. Maker's name is stencilled to the underside.
The sofa has an outstanding whisky brown colour, two hinged scroll arms with close nailed detail above mahogany legs terminating in brass castors. The sofa is extremely well made with a substantial and solid frame with padded back, seat and arms all remaining well stuffed and comfortable. The hinged scroll arms function by way of a ratchet, each working as it should.
The decorative side handles aid in handling the arm when dropping. The left side handle is loose in its fitting (the interior screw appears to have burred) but it still sits within the chair without issue and does not affect the drop action.
A truly stunning Victorian chesterfield of superb form and colour.
